Trincomalee port will be rectified shortly – R. Wickramasinghe

President Ranil Wickramasinghe said keeping the Trincomalee port idle is a national mistake and it will be corrected soon. He said Nilaveli to Trincomalee and Verugal Aru to Arugambay coastal areas are expected to be developed as a tourist zones.

Steps are being taken to develop Trincomalee as an energy hub. He added steps are being taken to develop Seruvila temple and Koneswaram temple too.

The President made these remarks at a political rally held at Uwaramale Stadium in Trincomalee yesterday. He also stated that the problem of the civil defence forces will also be resolved soon.

The President said the country should be developed for the benefit of youth and stressed the value of strengthening the export economy and the agriculture modernization program has been started to achieve the goal.

The President added the Trincomalee development program will be started together with the help of Indian government.
