A two-month Visa Amnesty, starting from tomorrow – UAE
The UAE’s Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs & Port Security has announced a two-month general amnesty, effective from tomorrow to October 31st.
This amnesty offers an opportunity for individuals residing illegally in the UAE without a valid visa or legal permission from their employer to leave the country without incurring fines or facing legal action.
Alternatively, they can take steps to regularize their status by obtaining the necessary documentation, including visas, during this period. In support of this initiative, the Sri Lankan Consulate in Dubai has announced special consular services for Sri Lankans residing illegally in the UAE.
The consular offices will assist in issuing temporary travel documents and providing consultation services to those wishing to return to Sri Lanka during the amnesty period.
It is expected that over a thousand Sri Lankans may apply for these documents.Sri Lankans residing illegally in the UAE are urged to take advantage of this amnesty period to regularize their status or return to Sri Lanka.
The Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment also encourages those with relatives or friends in the UAE to inform them about this opportunity
