National People’s Power presidential candidate Anura Kumara Dissanayake has vowed to establish a government committed to eradicating the influence of drugs and the underworld in Sri Lanka.

Speaking at a public rally in Negombo, the NPP candidate highlighted the deep-rooted connections between local politicians and organized crime.

MP Anura Dissanayake stated drugs and the underworld have become intertwined in our country. In Sri Lanka’s distant past, while crimes occurred, there were no organized crime gangs. Today, these gangs carry out murders

from Dubai and operate drug networks from within our prisons. These criminal organizations were created by local politicians.

He further promised that an NPP-led government would take swift and decisive action to dismantle these criminal networks.
