Edinborough Products goes live with Group wide digital transformation

Edinborough Products, a Sri Lankan food manufacturing company with more than 200 products, exports to over 25 countries and a 50+ year history, has entered a new phase of digital transformation with the go live of a Group wide integrated digital ecosystem.

The platform went live on 5 October, bringing together SAP S/4HANA Cloud, SFA manufacturing systems, a Human Resource Information System (HRIS) and banking integration across the Group’s business functions, manufacturing facilities and overseas operations. The initiative is the largest project undertaken by the Edinborough Products team.

The transformation connects finance, manufacturing, procurement, supply chain, sales and distribution, human resources, treasury and banking operations within a common digital environment. The integrated platform is designed to provide more consistent access to operational and financial information, while supporting standardised processes, stronger governance and faster decision making.

At the centre of the transformation is SAP S/4HANA Cloud, which provides the digital backbone for finance and management reporting, procurement, production planning, inventory, sales and distribution, supply chain management, treasury and banking. Its integration with SFA links manufacturing activity with production, material consumption, inventory, quality and supply chain processes.

Mr. RPM Zalmy, Managing Director of Edinborough Products, said the implementation represented a broader change in how the organisation operates.

“The implementation of SAP S/4HANA Cloud, SFA, HRIS and banking integration represents a defining moment for Edinborough Products. This is not simply a technology implementation. It is a transformation of how we operate, collaborate and create value.”

He said connecting the Group’s companies and manufacturing operations through a common digital platform would establish a foundation for sustainable growth, operational excellence and international expansion.

Mr. Asanka Narangoda, Chief Financial Officer and Project Manager, highlighted the organisation wide effort behind the programme.

“This programme has brought together every major function of the business under one shared vision. Its successful delivery reflects the commitment of our employees, the guidance of our leadership team and the expertise of our advisory and implementation partners.”

He said the programme was creating a connected, data driven enterprise capable of supporting the Group’s future ambitions in Sri Lanka and its overseas operations.

The project involved employees across finance, IT, manufacturing, supply chain, procurement, sales and HR in process design, data preparation, user acceptance testing, training and go live preparation. Ernst & Young provided technical project management support covering governance, programme coordination and risk oversight, while PBBS served as the implementation partner.

The 5 October go live marks the beginning of a new operating phase for Edinborough Products. The longer term impact of the transformation will depend on how effectively the connected systems improve information flow, collaboration, governance and decision making across its domestic and international operations.
