
Alpha Tours and Korean Air Celebrate 50 Years of Historic Partnership
Alpha Tours, a member of Finco Holdings, marked a significant milestone in Sri Lanka’s aviation and travel industry by celebrating 50 years as the General Sales Agent (GSA) for Korean Air, making it the airline’s longest serving GSA across its global network. The golden jubilee celebration was held at the Hilton Colombo Ballroom on July 22, bringing together leaders from the aviation, diplomatic and business communities to commemorate five decades of partnership.
The event reflected the long standing relationship between Alpha Tours and Korean Air, highlighting a partnership that has contributed to strengthening passenger and cargo connectivity between Sri Lanka and international markets over the past five decades.
A special highlight of the evening was the presence of Ms. Emily Lee Cho, President and Chief Marketing Officer of Hanjin Logistics Corporation and granddaughter of the late Mr. Cho Choong-hoon, founder of Hanjin Group and Korean Air. Her participation underscored the historic significance of the occasion and the enduring relationship between the two organisations.
The distinguished gathering of guests, including Mr. S.C. Weerasooria, Chairman of Finco Holdings; Mr. Hanif Yusoof, Governor of the Western Province and Presidential Special Envoy for Foreign Investment; Her Excellency Miyon Lee, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Sri Lanka; Capt. Daminda Rambukwella, Director General of Civil Aviation and Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Sam Sug Noh, President and CEO of Hanjin Logistics, Mr. Jin Ho Cho, Regional Manager for Korean Air in Singapore, Mr. Justin Chung, General Manager Cargo for Korean Air in Singapore, and Mr. Priyanjith Weerasooria, Vice Chairman of Finco Holdings. Representatives from the aviation sector, cargo, passenger & travel industries also attended the event.
The anniversary marks more than a business partnership. It reflected of long-standing collaboration in supporting air travel, trade and connectivity between Sri Lanka and the Republic of Korea, recognizing Alpha Tours position as one of Korean Air’s longest standing international partners. As both organisations look ahead, the milestone also reaffirmed a shared commitment to strengthening aviation links and building on a partnership that has spanned half a century.
