All arrangements are set for the election – Election Commission
Election Commissioner General Saman Sri Ratnayake says that all arrangements are set for the Presidential election. Voting will be held on 21st of next month. He said all the related preliminary work has been completed.
The ballot papers are to be delivered to the postal department tomorrow through the District Returning Officers. He said that the casting of postal votes will be done on 04, 05 and 06 of next month.
He added Government officers who could not cast their votes on that day can mark their votes on the 11th and 12th of next month at the district secretariat offices.
Meanwhile, Deputy Postmaster General Rajitha Ranasinghe said that steps have been taken to transport the postal ballot papers with highest safely and special staffs have been employed in this regard.
The Election Commission also said that a special discussion regarding the local government polls will be held next Wednesday according to the direction given by the Supreme Court.
